Privacy Policy

MatterTracker (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is a case-tracking tool for advocates and litigants. It notifies you when your matters are listed before courts and tribunals and how close they are to being called. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account and using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, your email address and an authentication credential, used to create, personalise and secure your account.
• Case information you provide. The case details you add to track a matter — case type, number and year, and any notes — and the preferences you set (such as notification thresholds and per-court alert settings).
• Court record information. To provide the service, the App retrieves publicly available information published by the courts and tribunals it supports (such as cause lists, display boards, and case status or orders) and associates it with the matters you track — for example the court or bench, item/serial number, hearing dates, party names and advocate names as published.
• Notification & device information. If you enable push notifications, we store a push subscription token for your device so that alerts can be delivered to it. We also keep a log of notifications generated for your matters.
• Photographs (cause-list uploads). MatterTracker includes a screen for uploading photographs of the unofficial cause lists posted outside courtrooms, used by the account that maintains those lists. If you use it, the App asks for access to your camera or photo library and stores the images you upload. Access is requested only when you use that screen; the App does not otherwise read images from your device.

We do not collect payment information (the App is free), and we do not request location, contacts, health data, or your advertising identifier. Camera and photo-library access is requested only for the cause-list upload screen described above. The App contains no advertising, no analytics SDK, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the core service: tracking your matters, matching them to published cause lists, calculating how many matters away your case is, and sending you alerts.
• To deliver notifications you have asked for (for example, when your case is a set number of items away, when a court begins taking passovers, or when your matter is called).
• To maintain, secure, debug and improve the App.
• To communicate with you about your account or important service changes.

3. How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the App, and only as needed to provide it:

These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and security practices. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the App.

4. Court data and public records

Cause lists, display-board status, and case details shown in the App originate from the publicly accessible systems of the courts and tribunals the App supports. This is public court-record information and is presented to help you track your matters. The App is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official service of any court, tribunal, or government body.

5. Push notifications

Push notifications are optional. If you enable them, we store a device push token to deliver alerts. You can turn notifications off at any time from within the App or from your device settings; doing so stops further alerts to that device.

6. Data retention and deletion

• We retain your account and case data for as long as your account is active.
• You can stop tracking and delete individual matters at any time within the App.
• You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by using the in-app deletion option (where available), by following the steps on our account deletion page, or by contacting us at mattertracker0@gmail.com. We will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the App and our services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s privacy

MatterTracker is a professional tool intended for advocates, litigants and legal professionals. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

9. International users

The App is operated for users in India and primarily concerns courts and tribunals in India. Information may be processed and stored by our service providers on infrastructure located in India or other countries. By using the App you consent to such processing.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may be communicated within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Governing law. This Privacy Policy and your use of the App are governed by the laws of India, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Delhi for any dispute arising out of or in connection with the App.
